From Nurse to Menopause Support Specialist

My Story

Like many women, I was always vaguely aware of the

menopause, but I never truly understood the scale of the

emotional and physical transition until I began to experience it

myself. No one had really talked about it when I was younger.

In my teens, it simply wasn’t a topic people discussed, and certainly

not something we were taught to prepare for. The silence around

menopause left a lot of us navigating it blindly.

It wasn’t until I began going through it personally that I realised

just how under-supported women are during this phase of life.

That experience is what ultimately led me to launch Gentle

Therapies (G&T) . I felt there was a real need for

a safe, supportive space where women could be heard and

helped—not rushed through a five-minute appointment or handed

a prescription without real conversation.

Before starting G&T, I worked as a Registered General Nurse

(RGN). My years in nursing gave me a strong medical foundation

and deep insight into the healthcare system. I’ve always been

passionate about preventative health, and I saw firsthand how

poorly menopause was addressed in clinical settings. It’s often

not treated as “urgent,” but the impact it has on women’s

lives—at home and at work—can be profound.

That’s why I created G&T: to bridge that gap between medical

care and emotional support. The vision was to combine

professional medical understanding with holistic, compassionate

therapies. I wanted to create an environment where women could

feel safe to talk about their symptoms, ask questions, and

explore options without judgement.

Since launching, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

So many women have told me how essential this kind of service

is. I also work with businesses and HR teams to support staff

who may be struggling with symptoms—because supporting

employees through menopause is not just the right thing to do,

it’s good for retention and wellbeing.

Gentle Therapies G&T is still growing, but I’m proud of the work

we’ve done so far and excited about where it’s going. My goal has

always been simple: to ensure that no woman feels alone during

menopause.
